Who must be involved in the development of the retention program?
Regardless of the method used to develop the records retention schedules, the program still must be reviewed and approved by your organization. This review time will add to the program development time, but hopefully help ensure the accuracy of the program. Clearly legal and tax must review the legal conclusions, and your departments should review the record series and total retention conclusions. You will also benefit from a Records Retention Committee and a group of Records Coordinators who take an active role in the project and on-going implementation.
